Alpha Telelhealth Testimonial

Here is our testimonial from Ms. Judy Conwell.

Why your boss wants you to see online doctors

Have you heard about the movement towards telehealth? Telehealth has become more and more popular with both individuals and companies since the roll out of the Affordable Care Act. It offers the chance for you, as a patient, to sit down in front of a web cam and interact with a licensed and caring physician without driving to a doctor’s office. More and more companies are talking about—and actively implementing—telehealth programs. Margaret Shaw, Director of Global Benefits for Marvell Technology, explains why her company has decided to offer a telehealth service to its employees: “It could potentially be a huge cost savings. If you go see a regular doctor, your cost is anywhere from $150 to $200 for an office visit. It’s a big, big difference.”

The benefits of using an online doctor don’t stop there. Besides the cost of a doctor’s appointment, there is also the time necessary to take off work, drive to a doctor’s office, and spend the time getting back to work. That time could be spent at your office, talking to a doctor, and then getting back to work. Both employees and companies can benefit from an increase in efficiency. This new service doesn’t come without its hiccups, though. It can often be hard to convince employees to engage in the program, which is why companies are doing their best to advertise the benefits to employees.

Global Aging – The Future of Healthcare relies on Telehealth

As the world dives further and further into technology and depends less and less on paper trail and brick-and-mortar customer service, businesses must think ahead and find ways to digitally and virtually provide their services. Granted, some businesses cannot go 100% online with their services, one can’t deny it’s a critical part of today’s society. The world anticipates and relies on the newest advances in technology; take the iPhone, for instance. Consumers stand in line for hours, even days to get the newest “en vogue” i-technology only to have an “outdated” phone months later. This speaks volumes to the fact consumers expect and anticipate new technical advances. At Alpha Telehealth, we have embraced this fact and focus on being tomorrow’s healthcare today, meaning we are innovating the way the world views and uses healthcare.

what is telehealth?

First of all, we must establish what telehealth services are. Defined by the Health Resources and Services Administration, telehealth is the use of electronic information and telecommunication technologies to support long-distance clinical health care, patient and professional health-related education, public health and health administration. Technologies include videoconferencing, the internet, store-and-forward imaging, streaming media, and terrestrial and wireless communications, therefore allowing you to stay at home and still receive the level of care you need to live independently.

Telehealth is all about communication. Telehealth is a way to close the gap between you, the patient, and the medical system you have to be in contact with on a regular basis. Bringing you closer to the experts, telehealth allows you to save the time and money you’d be spending on travel to the doctor’s office by staying at home.

what the future holds

So much has changed in regards to healthcare in the last few years. Now that Americans have several options when it comes to medical insurance, they now have as many options when it comes to choosing a way to receive their treatment. Consumers and companies alike are just beginning to understand and participate in telehealth services, leaving much room for growth and opportunity.

As we move toward a world that relies more and more on information and services literally at their fingertips, the healthcare system must move right along with them and follow and implement all the latest advancements to cater to the needs of its customers. It’s no secret that technology is improving and changing every day, so as technologies advance, so will telehealth. The future holds better communication, better efficiency when it comes to health administration, advanced alternative health resources and services, and ultimately less time and money on spent on healthcare.

what is telehealth?

Telehealth is defined by the Health Resources and Services Administration as “the use of electronic information and telecommunications technologies to support long-distance clinical health care, patient and professional health-related education, public health and health administration.” But telehealth is more than that; it means using the appropriate technology available to help you keep living an independent lifestyle while maintaining your health. Whether it’s monitoring vitals and sending reminders, having a video conference, or checking medications, telehealth allows you to stay at home and still receive the level of care you need to live independently.

telehealth is all about communication.

Have you ever felt like your level of contact with the medical system is less than it should be? Telehealth is a way to close the gap between you, the patient, and the medical system you have to be in contact with on a regular basis. It brings you closer to the experts that can consult on your case or reach out to you while you’re at home. It also allows you to save the time and money you’d be spending on travel to the doctor’s office by staying at home.

two types of telehealth

Telehealth is made up of two types of communication: real-time and store-and-forward. Real-time communication means using technology like video chatting to talk to a nurse or doctor. This can happen on a webcam or a video capable phone, which makes it very convenient.  Store-and-forward means that some sort of data is being transmitted. With both of these types of communication, you get to be at home while talking to your doctor or nurse.
